Los Angeles LGBT Center left you the following instructions:

Share what the Center means to you and you could be featured in a Pride 2026 ad! We'll contact you if your submission is chosen.

The campaign "Pride is the moment. The Center is the place." is an extension of this year's theme "The Place We Call Home". We're inviting our community to reflect on how the Center's presence in Los Angeles (and how we show up for LGBTQ people everywhere) changes lives year-round--not just during Pride Month!

Consider your connection to the Center and the programs that matter most to you. Record a video of yourself (selfie mode is OK) that's under 15 seconds, completing the phrase:

🌈 "The Center is [a/the] place [where/that/for/to]..." 🌈

Examples:
  • “The Center is the place where I finally felt safe enough to breathe. When I didn’t have a place to sleep or anyone to call, the people at Center were there for me."
  • “The Center is a place where getting older didn’t mean disappearing. I found a supportive community and a reminder that my life and story still matter.”
  • “The Center is a place for healing, both body and soul. I see every day how affirming care can change someone’s life.”
  • “The Center is a place to find your chosen family. I started volunteering to give back, but I stayed because of the joy, connection, and community I found.”
  • “The Center is a place where I know my donations literally save lives. I'm proud to be part of a community that always shows up for one another.”

Recording Tips:
  • You can record directly to ThankView on your desktop or mobile device. Make sure to film horizontally so you fill the frame.
  • Selfie mode is OK for this, but hold the camera as steady as possible!
  • Keep your device close for good sound quality but far enough away that you are the focus. Try 3-4 feet.
  • Choose a location that provides balanced lighting. Try to find a room that has a lot of natural light.
  • Record with the window facing you so you benefit from the natural light. If the window is behind you, you will appear shadowed.
  • Choose a flattering angle for your recording. Shooting from below is not usually a person’s best angle.
  • Avoid echo chambers. Oftentimes sparse offices or conference rooms with glass walls can create a lot of echoes.
  • Avoid blustery locations or areas with a lot of foot or vehicle traffic as your device’s mic may pick up noise.
  • Avoid wearing logos (besides the Center's) or graphic tees, or extremely bright colors.
